Mr. Max Ray Franks, 73, of Savannah, departed this life Sunday, June 15th at the Memphis Med in Memphis, TN. The husband of Margaret Brooks Franks, who survives, worked at PCA for over 37 years. He was born in Hardin County on March 24, 1941. He was a High School Graduate of Central High School, Class of 1960 and a US Army Veteran serving from 1960-1963. Mr. Franks was a Christian Comedian who entertained at various surrounding churches, civic groups, and nursing homes for over 12 years. He loved to, as he would say, “Cheer up the folk.” He also wrote “The Merry Heart” Column in the Savannah Courier and numerous surrounding counties for over 30 years. His life was the epitome of the bible scripture that says, “A Merry Heart doeth good like a medicine.” He truly loved his family and his extended church family and friends. In addition to his wife, whom he married on June 26th, 1965 and both saved on June 25th, 1967, he is survived by a son, Joel Franks, and his wife Sabrina Franks; a daughter, Amy Franks Forakis, and her husband Jim Forakis, and five grandchildren, Joshua Forakis, O’Neal Franks, Demetrius Forakis, Joseph Forakis, and Spencer Denmon, all of Savannah.
