Max Stewart was born in Crump, Tennessee on August 20, 1938, the son of the late Johnny Whitfield Stewart and Hester Lucille Ganus Stewart. On May 26, 1961, he was united in marriage to Lou Vonda Sowell, who preceded him in death on November 19, 1994. Mr. Stewart departed this life on March 5, 2018, at the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 13 days.
Mr. Stewart honorably served his country in the United States Army. Before retiring, he worked in Maintenance for ITT in Selmer, Tennessee. Mr. Stewart loved fishing, arrow head hunting, and collecting knives and guns.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Lisa) Kay Wright of Stantonville, Tennessee; son, Lynn Edward Stewart of Selmer, Tennessee; sisters, Jean Shelton, Mary Stewart, both of Crump, Tennessee, and Roberta Zehm of Roger, Arkansas; brother, Johnny Milo Stewart of Crump, Tennessee; grandchildren; Jeffery Steven White, Jr. of Savannah, Tennessee, Dustin Tyler White of Stantonville, Tennessee, Logan Glenn Wright of Stantonville, Tennessee, Brianna Wright of Savannah, Tennessee, Whitney Wright of Collinwood, Tennessee, Leslie Wright of Florence, Alabama, and Justin Wright of Finger, Tennessee; and great grandchildren, Annaleah White, Maddox Wright, Justus and Jayden Sparks, and Emily Wright; and companion, Judy Stewart and her children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy and Gilbert Jo Stewart, and sisters, Annie "Kate" Eliff and Jannie Sue Stewart.
Services will be held on March 8, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah in Savannah, Tennessee, with Darrell Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in the West Shiloh Cemetery.
