Obituary – Maynard Mitchell
Maynard Marvin Mitchell of Waynesboro, TN was born November 23, 1930 in Hagerstown, IN the son of Richard Harlan Mitchell and Bernice Healton Mitchell. He was united in marriage to Nellie Mae Beaty on February 25, 1951 in Adel, GA.
Mr. Mitchell was a Disabled American Veteran Retired from the Air Force as a TSgt (Technical Sergeant), and served around the world. He made his residence in Melbourne, FL. After retiring in 1963, he operated an appliance and TV store. He later ran a photography studio for many years. He loved assisting in the High School Rodeo and flying airplanes.
He later moved to Waynesboro, TN to be close to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for Beech Creek Fire Department, as well as a Volunteer for the Wayne County Senior Center. He was awarded the Wayne County Volunteer of the month award in March, 2014. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, tree farming, and wood working among many other things.
He departed this life on April 8, 2018. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by wife Nellie, and son Richard William Mitchell.
He is survived by sons, Thomas Mitchell of Pulaski, TN, Mike Mitchell of Waynesboro, TN, and daughter Shirley Ann Martin of Collinwood, TN, Brother In-Law Tom Beatty of West Melbourne, FL, as well as 9 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
Services will be held at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday April 11, 2018 at 5:30PM until 9:00PM. Funeral will be Thursday April 12, 2018 at 11:00AM with Grandson James Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Warren Cemetery, Old Beech Creek RD, Waynesboro, TN following service.
