Melba Reed Shelby

October 15, 1922 — April 17, 2014

Melba Reed Shelby (91) died peacefully after an extended stay at Maplewood Nursing Home in Jackson. A native of Scotts Hill, she spent most of her married life in Selmer where she was active as a homemaker and secretary deeply involved in The United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and American Legion Auxilary. Her husband, Edward died in 2009. She leaves one cherished daughter, Joy Shelby Weathersbee (Dan), and three beloved grandchildren: Isaac, Shelby and Will.



Visitation will be at First UMC in Selmer at 2:00 PM on Easter Sunday with the funeral at 3:30 PM. Burial will be at 5:30 PM at the Liberty UMC Cemetery in Scotts Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to Selmer First United Methodist Church.
