MELVIN L. YOUNG
Henderson, TN: Melvin L. Young, Sr. age 74 passed away June 4, 2014 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born April 10, 1940 in New Madrid, MO, the son of the late Coleman Lee and Lena M. Gray Young.
Melvin did a tour of duty with the U.S. Navy. After service he worked in Michigan and had his own excavating business for several years. He moved back south where he had an excavating business in Chester County. In 1980 he went into recycling and currently has a business, Hub City Waste Paper in Jackson, TN. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Henderson.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Norman Young; a son, Melvin Lewis Young, Jr. and wife Laurie Renee Young and a daughter, Michelle Lee King and husband, Michael W. King and grandchildren, Haley Renee Tull, Whitney Nichole Young, Madison Allie King and Michael Blake King all of Henderson.
Melvin was one of nine boys and one girl; four brothers have preceded in death, C.L. Young, Jessie Young, Ray Young and Arnold Young; and four brothers still living, Robert Young of Las Vegas, NV, Charlie O. Young of Tampa, FL, Ernie Young of Las Vegas, NV and Riley Young of Prescott, AZ and a sister, Ester Myers of Las Vegas, NV.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Bro. Rick Babin officiating and burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery in Jackson, TN.
