Mildred "Malmaw" Barrier was born on November 3, 1933, in Hardin County to the late Cecil Edward and Lois Cossey Scott. She was united in marriage to Bobby Dean Barrier in 1949, and he preceded her in death on November 26, 2003.
She worked for Angelica Manufacturing Company in Savannah, Tennessee, for thirty-five years as a sewing machine operator. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and canning, and she loved all of her family.
Mrs. Barrier departed this life on July 29, 2013, at Hardin Medical Center, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 26 days.
She is survived by three daughters, Bobbie Swaffer of Savannah, Tennessee, Cathy LaRu of Red Bay, Alabama and Debra White of Waterloo, Alabama; three sons, D. J. Barrier, David Barrier and Dewey Barrier all of Savannah, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Artie Mae Stricklin and Annie Lou Wilder of Savannah, Tennessee and Martha Staggs of Decatur, Alabama and two brothers, Jerry Scott and Wilburn Scott of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Aaron Barrier, one brother, Billy Wayne Scott and one grandchild, Junior Fox.
