Mildred E. Russell, age 93, of Middleton, departed this life Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widow of Charles "Bill" Russell, who died in August of 1998 after 57 years of marriage, she was a homemaker and retired from Sequentia around 30 years ago. She was born March 16, 1924, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Thomas and Freddie Callahan Lowrance and lived most all of her life in Hardeman County. She enjoyed watching birds, canning, quilting, flowers, cooking and watching "Wheel of Fortune". She received her greatest enjoyment from being around her children and grandchildren and loved going to church and attending Sunday School at New Bethel Baptist church.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carol Caviness (Jimmy) and LaDonna Luker (Benny), all of Middleton; three sons and their wives, Charles Steve Russell (Linda Faye) and Dennis Russell (Linda Diane) all of Middleton and Paul Russell (Ilene) of Saulsbury; a sister in law, Idell Wilbanks of Middleton; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Leon and Warner Lowrance; a sister, Mary McCoy; and a granddaughter, Tonya Luker. The family requests memorial donations in her name be made to New Bethel Cemetery, The West Cancer Center (westcancercenter.org/donate) or the Gideons International (www2.gideons.org/donate).
