Mr. Mitch Hamby, age 76 of Bolivar, departed this life Sunday morning, July 20, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Hamby was born in Cummings, Georgia December 6, 1937. He was united in marriage to Judy Hamby, who survives May 29, 1993. Prior to retirement, he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was also the caretaker at Woodlawn Plantation in LaGrange. He lived in Bolivar for 21 years and was a member of the Bolivar First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Among his hobbies, he loved reading books, watching sports on television, watching Bill Gaither programs, and taking care of his wife's horses.
In addition to his wife of twenty-one years, he is survived by three sons; his nieces and nephews; seven cats and two dogs.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Ruth and William Coleman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 5:00 pm in the front pasture of the Woodlawn Plantation, 24056 Highway 57, LaGrange, TN. Pasture attire is requested for those in attendance.
