Morris Beckham

November 25, 1926 — October 30, 2013

Morris Beckham was born on November 25, 1926, in Hardin County, Tennessee the son of the late Jay Wilson and Alta Davis Beckham.

On October 7, 1956, he was united in marriage to Royce Beverlyn DeBerry, who survives.

Mr. Beckham served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received his Masters of Education from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama and worked for the Hardin County School System, where he eventually became the Superintendent of Schools. He was also employed by the Hardin County Bank in Savannah, Tennessee. He was a member of the First United Church of Savannah and served on the Board of Trustees; and a member of the Rotary, Retired Teachers, Red Cross and Woodmen of the World, as well as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed living in the Big Ivy Community. He loved family, sporting events, fellowship, politics, pranks, pets and flowers. He loved to eat out and to visit with people, and he loved to serve his community.

Mr. Beckham departed this life on October 30, 2013, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 5 days.

In addition to his wife, Royce Beckham of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by two children, Suzanne Henson and her husband, Anthony of Selmer, Tennessee and Joel Beckham and his wife, Jackie of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; four grandsons, Bart Browder and his wife, Kendra of Gallatin, Tennessee, Blake Browder of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Jackson Beckham and Connor Beckham; one sister, Katye Ellis of Waterloo, Alabama.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, J. W. Beckham, Hassell Beckham and Bill Beckham.
