Onedia Shutt Beteta, better known as Miss O, was born January 9, 1933, the daughter of the late Arthur Jowers and Elsie Shelby Shutt. On August 11, 1967, she was united in marriage to Antonia Beteta, who preceded her in death on June 28, 1980.
Miss O lived in Hardin County her entire life and was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She was also a member of the Woodmen of the World, the Home Demonstration Club and a volunteer for the March of Dimes. Miss O was employed by Garan Manufacturing in Adamsville, Tennessee, as a machine operator, for over twenty-two years. She attended and occasionally taught the Tuesday Morning Bible Study at the Nursing Home. She enjoyed eating with her friends, gardening, and reading. She was active in her church and she loved being with people.
Miss O departed this life on April 18, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 9 days.
She is survived by two children, Samuel J. Stewart, and fiance, Rita Jeffries of Union Town, Pennsylvania and Renita Brown and husband, Robert of Booneville, Mississippi; grandchildren, Grady Britt and wife, Sherry and Samuel James Stewart; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, James Shutt and wife, Becky and Otis Thurman Shutt and wife, Shirley, all of Savannah, Tennessee; and a host of relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Martha Shutt, Sue Hubbard, Johnny Shutt and Cornelia Brown.
