Ozell Cothren Kelley
Henderson: Edna Ozell Cothren Kelley, age 98, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Henderson Health and Rehab.
Mrs. Kelley was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late Tom and Emma Cone Cothren. She attended schools in Chester County, at Sweetlips and Sand Hill. She married Clyde S. Kelley in 1938 and they made their home in Chester County where Mr. Kelley farmed and worked at well drilling and also at Grinnell. Mr. Kelley died in 1991. Mrs. Kelley worked on the family farm, several years at Salant & Salant, and then at Granny’s Kitchen and Bill’s Diner. She loved to raise a garden, can, and work in her flowers.
She is survived by four children; Brenda Clay (Ronnie) of Jacks Creek, Debbie Harvey (Ira) of Luray, Finis Kelley of Henderson and Bradley Kelley (Kay) of Medon, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Larry Kelley in 2002, two brothers James Cothren and Raymond Cothren, and a sister Gladys Terry.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Aaron Terlecki officiating. Burial will be at Old Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford – Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday.
