Parker Holt was born November 14, 1949 in Florence, Alabama to Grace White Holt and Elias Marion Holt. On March 6, 1969, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Clay, who survives. They stood by each other through good and bad, sickness and in health for 48 years. Their love for each other and their family was evident to all that knew them.
He worked hard to provide for his family and taught his children and grandchildren the true meaning of work ethic. He was a protector, a friend, a helper, a husband, and a father. He was a big man with a bigger heart and loved with no bounds. His life spoke volumes of what a man should be. He unashamedly walked with God; never afraid to voice that faith, share that faith, or challenge others to a closer walk in their own faith. The life he lived was a testament to that faith and his love for God, family, and friends. Parker loved and lived as an example to all. He loved his family only second to God. He always had a word of encouragement, wisdom, or scripture. Those who knew Parker were made to feel welcome and at home, like family. For that, he was both loved and admired by all who knew him. No words can justly describe what this man was to everyone he met. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
Parker was a Master Mason at Collinwood Masonic Lodge 702. He was a York Rite, a Scottish Rite, a Knights Templer, and a Shriner. He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
He is survived by wife, Becky, daughter, Barbara (Steve) Pickens, son, Jeremy (Kim) Holt; and a special friend, Kevin (Mary) Scott, who was thought of and loved like a son. Grandchildren that he adored, CJ (Stefanie) Pickens, Matthew (Krystal) Pickens, Luke Holt, Haley Holt, Scott (Savannah) McLin, Tyler (April) McLin, Jacqueline McLin, Matthew Milford, Lillie Pickens, Colton Christopher and Lannie Pickens. Great-grandchildren, Abbie, JB, and Kylie Grace Pickens, Able Sloan, Parker and MacKinley McLin. Brothers, Curtis Holt, Arnold Holt and Preston Holt. Sisters, Carolyn Harrison and Mary Katherine Holt.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Troy Holt, Orvil Holt, Corrine Heard, Raymond Holt and an infant brother.
As a strong man of faith, his life testified to Matt. 5:16 KJV and 2 Tim 4:7 KJV
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matt. 5:16 KJV) “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (2 Tim 4:7 KJV) All who knew and loved Parker are better for it and we are comforted in knowing that he has been welcomed into his eternal home… “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
His family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to Hunting for a Cure, PO Box 444, Savannah, TN, 38372, to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN or to a charity of the senders choice.
