Mrs. Pearl N. Cooper Rainey of Middleton, formerly of Memphis, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, January 6, 2015 at the age of 94 years and 4 days at Lynnfield Assisted Living in Selmer.
Mrs. Rainey was born in Rosebud, Arkansas on Sunday, January 2, 1921 to the late Arthur A. and Dovie Smith Norton. On April 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to her first husband, Mr. L. V. "Pete" Cooper. The two of them moved to Memphis in 1942 and lived there until 1973. Mr. Cooper passed away January 13, 1980. In 1987, she married Mr. Lloyd R. Rainey, who preceded her in death October 3, 2008.
She worked as a homemaker and enjoyed many things, including playing Bunko, fishing, flying, traveling and gardening. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Art Cooper and wife Sharon of Middleton, and Billy Cooper of Counce; grandchildren, Chris Cooper, Ben Cooper and Tammy Petkoff; stepgrandson, Brian Davis; five great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, second husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, and one granddaughter.
