Peggy Jane Blakely

Mrs. Peggy Jane Blakely, age 79 of Oakland, Tennessee departed this life Sunday, December 22, 2013 at her home.

A native of Hardeman County, she was born September 20, 1934 to the late James William and Lillie Ruth Howell Rush. She retired from Kroger Bakery after working at the bakery on Florida Street in Memphis for 34 years. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheila Ruth Posey of Oakland; a step-son, Mike Blakely of Memphis; two sisters, Jimmie Wiley of Silerton and JoAnn Murley of Silerton; two grandchildren, Chris Posey and wife Amy of Collierville and Jessica Hart and husband Todd of Oakland; and three great-grandchildren, Savannah Petty, Taylor Posey, and Colton Throneberry.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Williams; her second husband, Claude Earl Blakely; her sister, Wanza Archer; and a brother who was stillborn.

Donations made in memory of Mrs. Blakely may be sent to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Fund, the American Cancer Society, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
