Peggy Cheshier

Mrs. Peggy Cheshier, age 71, of Bolivar, departed this life Saturday evening, June 6, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

The wife of Jerry Cheshier, who survives, she was the owner/operator of Peggy's Silk Flowers for 15 years and had previously worked at the Armira Corporation and Harman Automotive. She was born May 3, 1944, in Chalybeate, Mississippi, daughter of the late Lindsey Martin Hopper and Josie Frances Yancey Hopper and lived in Memphis prior to moving here 46 years ago. She married Jerry on October 11, 1968 and was a member of Parrans Chapel Baptist Church for over 40 years where she was a former nursery teacher. In addition to designing floral arrangements, her hobbies included fishing. Her family states that she loved working with her flowers, enjoyed hummingbirds and butterflies and was an excellent bowmaker. She also invented the 'swags' that are popular with floral arrangements.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Jerry Cheshier of Bolivar; a daughter, Jackie Vincent of Nashville; a son and his wife, Mr and Mrs. Brad Wilbanks of Jackson; a sister, Betty McCluey of Memphis; three brothers, Mansel Hopper of Tiplersville, MS, Johnny Hopper of Chalybeate, MS and Monroe Hopper of Carthage, TN; four grandchildren, Lindsey (Robert) Maurer, Joshua (Autumn) Vincent, Loren Wilbanks and JerriAnn (Connor) Goodman; and eleven great grandchildren, Mason, Colby, Danica, Blakely, Raelynn, Keaghan, Lauren, Reese, Channing, Lexi and Talan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters and four brothers. The family requests memorial donations in Mrs. Cheshier's name be sent to the Hardeman County Arts Council or "Lillies for Lillian" at Parrans Chapel Baptist Church.
