Perlis B. Brison

July 8, 1936 — August 22, 2014

Mr. Perlis B. Brison, Jr. of Waynesboro died Friday, August 22, 2014 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro at the age of 78 Years, 1 Month, 4 Days. He was born July 18, 1936 in Wayne County the son of the late Perlis Boyd Brison, Sr. and Alva Marie Dixon Brison.

After graduating from Collinwood High School, Mr. Brison began his working career at Hassell and Hughes Lumber Co. He enlisted in the U.S. Army December 16, 1959 and was honorably discharged March 8, 1962. During this time he married Jeanette Mathis June 29, 1959. She preceded him in death March 18, 2009. After his military service he worked for some time at Tennessee Valley Electric Cooperative. He and his wife purchased Mathis Hardware and together they operated that business for 27 years. He later was elected as Wayne County Trustee, a position he would hold until his retirement. Mr. Brison was active in his community, serving in the Rotary Club, Waynesboro Masonic Lodge, and was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Lawrenceburg Classic Car Club.

He is survived by daughters, Belinda Howell and husband Darrell of Old Hickory, TN, Sonya Quillen and husband Terry of Waynesboro, TN, grandchildren; Brent Quillen, Alayna Howell, and Parker Howell, great grandchild, Brenly Quillen, sister; Kathryn Parrish and her husband Wayne of Gallatin, TN, niece, Tamara Parrish of Gallatin, TN, sister in law; Kathy Brison of Collinwood,TN, first cousin and caregiver, Elaine Rich of Waynesboro. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Earl Brison.

Services will be Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 1:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro with , Jerry L. Robbins officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Waynesboro Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Wayne Parrish, Paul Dixon, Bill Holt, Doug Sanders, Jason Ray, and Patrick Butler.
Family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be given to the American Cancer Society.
