Mr. Redus Hannis, Jr., age 78 of Bolivar, Tennessee, departed this life Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2014 at Bolivar General Hospital.
Mr. Hannis was born September 7, 1936 to the late Redus, Sr. and Cratie Pipkin Hannis and lived most all of his life in Hardeman County. On March 24, 1987, he was united in marriage to Willie Lou Hannis, who survives. He served in the Tennessee National Guard, and worked for 17 years at Dover Elevator as a cab assembler, retiring in 1987. He also worked at J. P. Shelly & Sons and Three Way Grocery. He enjoyed his retirement, spending time with family. He liked mowing the grass and was known as a coffee drinker. He was a member of the New Bethany Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife of 27 years, he is survived by two sisters, Emma Jane McKee and husband Marcus of Middleton, and Madie Lou McDonald of Middleton; three brothers, Sam Hannis and wife Ruby of Bolivar, Malvin Hannis and wife Poc of Florida, and Jimmy Hannis and wife Connie of Bolivar; stepchildren, Larry Garrett and wife Mary Lee of Bolivar, Brenda Howell and husband Johnny of Bolivar, Charles Garrett and wife Susan of Paradise Valley, Arizona, and Pat Tigner and husband William of Hornsby; grandchildren, Sandy Garrett, Shela Rixie, Wayne Garrett, Rebecca Giles, Robert Howell, Tina Baker, and Scott Garrett; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Danah Lynne Hannis Vales, who passed away in 2007; and a grandson, Wade Tigner.
