Rena Louise Murphy

Rena Louise Murphy of Selmer, TN departed this life on May 18, 2014 in Selmer at the age of 86 Years, 6 Days. She was born on May 12, 1928 in McNairy County to the late Dewey and Ruby Lowrance McMahan.

She was united in marriage to William Cletus "Pete" Murphy on September 10, 1944. Mr. Murphy preceded her in death on December 16, 1983.

Mrs. Murphy was retired from Brown Shoe Company and worked with her daughter Charlotte in her tanning business. She loved making ceramics with her sister. She also liked to crochet, make floral arrangements, and listening to gospel music.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Younger of Corinth, MS, Charlotte Shannon and husband Dale of Selmer, TN; a son, William Earl Murphy and wife Barbara of Memphis, TN; a sister, Faye Cox and husband Max of Hornsby, TN; a brother, Joe McMahan and wife Linda of Hornsby, TN; seven grandchildren, Stacy Kropp and husband David, Donna Smith and husband Kevin, Regina Tacker and husband Rick, Melissa Shoaf, Valerie Jones and husband Mike, Kim Polk and husband Tim, Jennifer Lawson and husband Joey; 17 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by a brother, John McMahan.
