Rita Fawcett, 59, of Grand Valley Lakes, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Fayette County, she was retired as a nurse, having worked at Pine Meadows Healthcare in Bolivar for 16 years. She also worked for Fayette County General Hospital and Home Health. She was born August 26, 1954, the daughter of Inez Kee Simmons of Somerville and the late Gus Simmons and had lived in Fayette County prior to moving here over 20 years ago. Her hobbies were fishing and gardening, and her family states that she was a spiritual person and loved all kids, especially her granddaughter.
In addition to her mother, survivors include a son, Adam Fawcett of Grand Valley Lakes; her life partner, Billy Hatfield of Grand Valley Lakes; three sisters, Marilyn Lumpkin, Bonnie Holt and Renee Watson, all of Somerville; a brother, James Clay Simmons of Somerville; a granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Fawcett of Grand Valley Lakes; two nieces, Rachel Lumpkin and Reanna Holt; two nephews, Jimmy Lumpkin and David Holt; two great nieces, Laila Lumpkin and Skylar Holt; and two great nephews, Jaxson Holt and Christopher Daniel Tibbs. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a nephew, James Daniel Holt.
