ROBBIE COFIELD
Henderson, TN: Vaughan Robinson Cofield age 88 passed away Friday morning July 25, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in White County, AR and grew up in AR, LA and TX the son of the late Buford and Clara Vaughan Cofield and was raised up by his step-mother, Giva Prince Cofield. He served his country for 37 years, an enlistment in the Navy and enlistment in the Army, and the Air Force from 1950 till 1964 and finished his career in Civil Service as an Industrial Specialist, while in the Military he served in the U.S., Germany, England and at Sea abroad the U.S.S. York Town in the South Pacific. He was a member of the VFW, the DAV, and the Knights Templar (Demitted). He participated in the operation Red Wing Atomic Tests at Eniwock Atoll in the South Pacific. He is one of the last Atomic Veterans.
He married to Mary Connor in 1981 and they made their home in Chester County since that time.
He had worked part time at Casey Funeral Home, was a dispatcher at the Sheriff’s Department and had also driven the dialysis van, and was a Quinco Mental Health van driver.
Mr. Cofield is survived by his wife Mary Connor Cofield; two daughters, Charlene Johnson of Shawnee, OK and Cheryl Harvey and husband Roger of Branford, FL and two step daughters, Kathy Medlin and husband Marlin of Jackson and Vicki Carpenter and husband Eddie of Foley, AL; eight grandchild and thirteen great grandchildren and a sister, Sue Davis and husband Robert of West Monroe, LA.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday July 28, 2014 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with burial in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday.
