Robert Earl Tipler, age 89, of Southaven, MS, formerly of Byhalia, MS, departed this life Monday evening, November 20, 2017 at the home of his daughter.
The widower of Peggy Jean Tipler, who died in 2009, he was retired as a truck driver, having driven for Bowman Transportation for 30 years until his retirement in 1983. He was born July 16, 1928, in Middleton, son of the late Johnny Eugene Tipler and Mary LewEllen Champion Tipler and lived in Byhalia, MS for 30 years, prior to moving to Southaven in 2015. He served in the US Marines for four years during World War II and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Mr. Tipler was a Baptist in belief.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, T. J. (Ray) Duncan of Southaven; a grandson, Chris (Dana) McCommon of Southaven; and two great grandsons, Nathan and Joshua McCommon. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
