Mr. Hensley passed away Sunday afternoon, December 21st, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Bolivar and long-time resident of Hardeman County, he was the son of the late Thomas Russell Hensley, Jr. and Dorothy Mae McKinnie Hensley. He had worked as park manager at Big Buck near Hornsby, TN, a farmer and as a crewman on riverboats. He also had spent time in HVAC service/repair and as an auto mechanic. Mr. Hensley was a 1969 graduate of Middleton High School and was quite athletic in his younger years playing football, baseball and basketball. His family remembers him as an man who "never gave up" despite his health difficulties. Phyllis, his sister, considers him "one of the wisest people she has ever known". In his spare time, Robert enjoyed his dogs, gardening, his grandchildren and reading, especially the Bible.
He leaves two sons, Bobby Hensley of Hickory Valley and Ronnie Hensley of Brownsville; one sister, Phyllis Tranum of Middleton; five grandchildren, Carson, Jake, Kase, Lainey and Gracie; one aunt, Betty McKinnie of Memphis; a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and special friends, William and Beth Cossar of Hornsby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Pusser.
