Robert Ray "Bob" Mowrey was born October 21, 1939 in Watseka, IL, the son of the late Donald V.Mowrey and Maxine Belle Biddle Hoover. He was united in marriage to Lois Brutlag on October 22, 1957 at the Methodist Church in Kentland, IN. They lived in Lowell, IN from 1960 until 1972, and then moved to Crown Point, IN in 1973. For over 47 years Robert cut meat and was a meat manager. After retiring, they moved to Morris Chapel, TN in 2003 and attended Adamsville Church of Christ in Adamsville, TN.
Bob and Lois had traveled to 34 states, as well as Mexico and Canada. For many years he showed and trained horses. A few years during that time Bob did saddle bronc riding in the rodeo. He also enjoyed doing yardwork, walking, reading and being outdoors. Most importantly, Bob loved being with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Lois Mowrey; a daughter, Debbie (Bruce) Maddux of Yellow Springs, OH; a son, Dave Mowrey of Waxahachie, TX; 3 grandchildren: Josh, Josiah and Jon Maddux all of Yellow Springs, OH; sister-in-law, Jan Mowrey of Watseka, IL; half sister, Donna Sue Jones of FL; half brother, Billy Hoover of Watseka, IL; two stepsisters, Shirley Taylor of Watseka, IL and Florence Lober of Cissna Park, IL; stepbrother, Kenny Milljour of FL.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mowrey was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Mowrey; a stepbrother, Tedd Sheppard; a stepsister, Deloris Dobbs; and a half sister, Sherry Mowrey.
