Mrs. Rubye Duncan Reams, age 83 of Whiteville, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Falkner, MS, she was the daughter of the late Euclid and Pearl Beibers South and a graduate of Falkner High School. A resident of Whiteville for many years, she was secretary for Whiteville Elementary School retiring after 30 years of service. Mrs. Reams served Whiteville First United Methodist Church as church secretary; was a Sunday School teacher and volunteer in the pastoral department for 11 years at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Jackson; and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Jackson at the time of her passing. She had lived in Jackson for the past 3 years.
She leaves her husband, Max Reams of Jackson; two daughters, Charla (Tony) Cooper of Bolivar and Jane (Bobby) Wright of Toone; one son, Bruce Ross of Crossville; two step-children, Al (Dinah) Reams and Kit (Rick) Bryant, both of Jackson; two brothers, Parvin South of Mathiston, MS and Cleo South of Natchez, MS; 7 grandchildren, Tracy and Kimberly Flora, John and Sara Cooper, Amanda Ross, Laura and Duncan McKinnie; 9 step-grandchildren, Bo, Ethan and Lance Wright, Chris and Payton Bryant, Stephanie Jacobson, Katelyn Wolfe, Anna Locke and Andy Reams.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Charles Caldwell Duncan on May 23, 1987; a son, Barney Ross; two sisters, Imelda Bland and Joye Marie South; and a brother, Byrl South.
