Sam Pickens, Jr. was born in Hardin County, April 8, 1939, the son of the late Sam and Mackie Wilkerson Pickens.
He was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Savannah, Tennessee and later retired with Lloyd Parrish Logging Company. He loved fishing and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Mr. Pickens departed this life March 15, 2014, at the Hardin Medical and Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 7 days.
He is survived by one son, Roger Pickens of Savannah, Tennessee and two daughters, Darlene White Mancell of Savannah, Tennessee and Sherry Sweat of Stantonville, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Toby Pickens, Dylan Pickens, Kelsey Pickens, Damien White, Skylar Sweat and Sawyer Sweat; one great-grandchild, Bently Stephens; and one sister, Onedia Franks of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Pickens and one sister Katherine Pickens.
