Thomas Sentell Kennamer, Waynesboro, TN, was born November 6, 1925 in New Hope, AL, the son of the late Robert Ray and Sally Gertrude Cobb Kennamer. He was united in marriage to Edna Ruth Ledford on June 29, 1946 and she preceded him in death on November 27, 2008.
Mr. Kennamer was a retired painter and former owner of a canoe rental on Buffalo River north of Waynesboro, TN. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of VFW and AFL-CIO Painters Local.
Mr. Kennamer departed this life on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 10 Months, 23 Days.
He is survived by sons, James Marcus Kennamer and Thomas Ray Kennamer both of Waynesboro, TN; daughters, Julia Ann Young of Loretto, TN, Edna Gail Gheesling of Atlanta, GA, Wanda Sue Reels of Lawrenceburg, TN; twenty-one grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a brother, John Kennamer of AL; sisters, Virginia Krump and Mary Lou Redman both of SC; Katie Bell of FL, Betty Jo Hillard of AL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Kennamer was preceded in death by a daughter, Marsha Dale Ackermann; sons, Joseph Thomas and Leonard Earl Kennamer; brothers, Leroy, James, Henry and Ray Kennamer.
Services will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at North Highland Church of Christ, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Jerry L. Garner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Richard Amlin, Thomas Brewer, Gregory Brewer, Michael Selman, Robert Gheesling and Kyle Gheesling with Tommy Kennamer serving as honorary pallbearer.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 9 am to service time at the church.
