Thomas Junior Staggs

Thomas Junior Staggs of Waynesboro, TN, was born May 12, 1942 in Hohenwald, TN, the son of the late LeRoy and Ava Staggs. He was united in marriage to Shirley Jo Clayton on December 14, 1961. Mr. Staggs was a retired court officer and served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1961 to 2002.

Mr. Staggs departed this life on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 8 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Jo Clayton Staggs of Waynesboro, TN; a son, Chris Staggs of Waynesboro, TN; five daughters, Debbie Sherrill and husband, Joe of Drayton, ND, Tina Hudgins of Collinwood, TN, Lisa Jones and husband, Casey of Waynesboro, TN, Kim McCurry of Waynesboro, TN, Brandi King and husband, Neal of Hohenwald, TN; 6 grandchildren, Cassie, Michael, Jana, Ciara, Kelsey, Hunter and Caylee; 3 great-grandchildren, Caysen, Aniston and Ava.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Staggs was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Sayles and Pearl Ricketts.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Casey Jones officiating. Masonic Rites will be given. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Waynesboro, Tennessee with military rites and Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 8 am until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Teddy Clayton, Ernie Clayton, Neal King, Donnie Staggs, Dudley Collins and Joe Sherrill. Honorary pallbearers will be Caysen Mosley, Hunter King, Kevin Clayton and Charlie Mosley.
