Tolbert Grady Gooch was born October 2, 1922 in McNairy County, TN, the son of the late Christopher Columbus "Lum" and Lou Vinnie McGee Gooch.
Mr. Gooch was a member of the Mount Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ramer, TN. He served as the Secretary, Treasurer and an Elder for the church for many years. He was a mechanic most of his life, even when he served our country in the U.S. Army during WW II. Grady had worked for Grover Sibley Chevrolet in Selmer, TN for over 30 years and later owned and operated Gooch Auto Repair in Selmer. He was a loving and caring family man.
Mr. Gooch departed this life on August 4, 2014 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 10 Months, 2 Days.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Jeter and husband Randle of Ripley, MS; a son, Jerry Gooch of Memphis, TN; a grandson, Eddie Wagoner of Selmer, TN; four great grandchildren: Ashton Powers, Marcus Wagoner, Steven York and Timothy Smith; a geat-great-granddaughter, Stella Powers.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gooch was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Dorothy Barnes Gooch and his second wife, Martha Jones Hewitt Gooch; a granddaughter, Cristie York; two brothers, William Gooch and Johnson Gooch; and three sisters: Eula Gooch, Jessie Armstrong and Nola Campbell.
