THOMAS LEE ROSTAR

Thomas Lee Rostar, 78, of Henderson, Tennessee and formerly from Haslett, Michigan passed away on July 29, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

He was born in Petoskey, Michigan on March 4, 1936 to Stephen and Geneva Rostar.

Tom was a sergeant in the U.S. Army: he trained troops and was stationed in Panama.

He married Reba Sipes in January 1958 and they raised five children in Haslett, MI. He supported his family by working in the carpet business in Lansing, MI and in retirement he owned a bait and boat rental shop in northern Michigan. His love of nature led him to many hobbies such as fishing, boating and lapidary. He enjoyed polishing and carving Petoskey stones; many were given way as gifts. Tom lived in Henderson, TN the last thirteen years.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Steve, and his sister Mary Lou Ferland. He is survived by his children, Lisa (Joe Renkema) of South Haven, MI, Thomas Jeffery of East Lansing, MI, Mark (Cindy) of Laingsburg, MI, Timothy of Alanson, MI and Susan (Jerry) Whitehead of Henderson, TN; his grandchildren, Rebecca, Thomas Calvin, Mark Thomas, and Adam Rostar and Hollis and Michael Whitehead and his great grandchildren, Madelyn, Christian, Virginia, Emma and Starla Rostar. He also left behind his constant companion and beloved cat Jerry.

A celebration of life will begin with a family visitation at 10 am at the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Chapel in East Lansing, MI on Saturday August 23rd. A funeral mass will follow at 11 am.
