Troy O. Sipes, age 88, of Hornsby, departed this life Monday, January 1, 2018 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The husband of Willie Ruth Sipes, whom he married in 1993, he was retired as a purchasing agent with Harmon Automotive in Bolivar, having worked there 29 years. He was born November 29, 1929, in Hornsby, son of the late John Pink Sipes and Janie Newson Sipes and lived most of his life in Hornsby and Middleton. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a TSSAA official for 50 years, officiating at basketball and football games. Mr. Sipes was a member of Reaves Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Ruth Sipes; two daughters, Patsy (David) Prydie and Gwen Sipes, both of Middleton; two sons, Troy Lynn (Charlene) Sipes of Middleton and Terry Lee (Lora) Sipes of Savannah; a stepdaughter, Susan (Frank) Paris of Brownsville; a sister, Jewell (Wade) Reid of Middleton; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Velma Sipes, Lue Dell Sipes and an infant sister; and five brothers, Adron, theron, Burrell, Thomas and Wade Sipes. The family requests memorial donations in his name be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
