Virginia Lee Parmely Wilmeth was born July 26, 1932 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Orlen R. and Martha Calldonia (Callie) Kirk Parmely.
She was united in marriage to George Franklin Wilmeth on April 6, 1957. Mr. Wilmeth preceded her in death on November 11, 2010, following 53 years of marriage.
Mrs. Wilmeth was the Salutatorian of her graduating class at Ramer High School. She was employed as a cashier for Pickwick Electric Cooperative from 1953 to 1957, and also worked for Otis Industries in Ramer and Wilmeth Grocery, where she earned a reputation as "the best bologna sandwich maker ever." Mrs. Wilmeth enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, and raising vegetables and flowers in her garden. She was an excellent cook who loved to prepare meals for and spend time with her family. The Antioch church of Christ was her home congregation; she was active in the Golden Oaks, Ladies' Craft Class, and Visitation Teams, sending cards to those who needed encouragement. Mrs. Wilmeth was a humble Christian servant, always putting others first and helping where she could.
Mrs. Wilmeth departed this life on October 3, 2017 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 85 Years, 2 Months, 7 Days. She is survived by two daughters, Pam Horton and husband Joe and Karen Bowers and husband John, all of Ramer, TN; four grandchildren: Rafe Horton and wife Mary Beth of Columbia, TN, Callie Horton, Seth Bowers, and Sophie Bowers, all of Ramer, TN; a sister, Fern Butler of Ramer, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Wilmeth was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Parmely, and two sisters, Fawndree Wilmeth and Earma Lee Kirk.
