W C “Ike’ Kinchen
Henderson, TN: W C ‘Ike’ Kinchen age 81 passed away July 2, 2018 at the Lexington Manor.
He was born February 24, 1937 in the Sweetlips Community of Chester County the son of the late Royce and Ruth Mae Kinchen Kinchen . He attended schools in Chester County. He farmed as a young man and began running a dozier at the age of 16. He operated with Edward Thomas and Talmo Johnson and also worked with Boyer and Johnson Construction, now Dement Construction. While at Dement he helped construct part of the Tombigbee Waterway, Natchez Trace Parkway, the bridge at Dyersburg and the four laneing of Highway 45 in Mississippi and Tennessee.
He married Liz Arnold in 1974. They made their home in the Plainview Community. They owned and operated Liz’s Bar-B-Que on South Church.
He loved to squirrel hunt and work on old tractors and collect case knives. He was a Baptist in Faith.
Mr. Kinchen is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Arnold Kinchen of Henderson; three stepsons, Ralph Bullman of Henderson, R.M. Mobley of Finger and Allen Bullman of Henderson; three grandchildren and a brother, Neal Kinchen of Finger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, E. G. ‘Bill’ Kinchen.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetlips Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday.
