Warner A. Ross

Mr. Warner A. Ross, age 73 of Toone, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Bolivar General Hospital in Bolivar, Tennessee.

He was born June 8, 1941 the son of the late Curtis M. Ross of Bolivar and Mary Herriman Ross of Malesus, Tennessee. He was married to Janie Sue Hornsby of Hornsby, Tennessee for 27 years, and, later, married to Jo Ellen Williams of Bolivar for the past 24 years. Mr. Ross was preceded in death by both parents.

Warner A. Ross was a life-time resident of the Toone/Silerton area of Hardeman County, Tennessee. He served his country in the Tennessee Army National Guard as a Staff Sargent assigned to the 30th Separate Armored Brigade in Bolivar/Selmer, Tennessee. Mr. Ross was named Star Farmer of America in 1961 and continued that career as a farmer, agri-businessman, and owner and operator of Warner Ross Trucking, Inc. He enjoyed his work, feeding his catfish, rescuing unwanted pets, and especially providing a helping hand to any and all persons who came his way. Mr. Ross was a member of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge #608, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Scottish Rite, and Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a member of the Bolivar First United Methodist Church and also attended services at Middleburg Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He was also a board member of the George Phillips Evangelical Association in Central City, Kentucky.

He is survived by his wife of 24, years, Jo Ellen Ross; four sons, Warner A. "Nubbin" Ross and wife Becky of Toone, Tony Ross of Toone, Dr. Ben Ross and wife Lynn of Crozet, Virginia, and Will Ross and wife Rachel of Hornsby; one daughter, Rebekah Ross Bomar and husband Josh of Franklin; one stepson, Matt Williams of Toone; and one stepdaughter, Whitney Williams of Whiteville; one foster son, Mr. Steve Lance and wife Linda of Toone; 18 grandchildren, and other family consisting of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Ross; a sister, Jo Ellen Ross of Silerton; and a stepdaughter, Lori Lax of Bolivar.

The family requests that any memorials or donations are sent to the Bolivar Masonic Lodge #608 in care of CB&S Bank in Bolivar, Tennessee.
