Warren Lee Cargill was born December 9, 1924 in Collierville, TN the son of the late Bertram Cargill and Thelma Keough Cargill Baldwin.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Pounds on June 2, 1946. Mrs. Cargill preceded him in death on September 23, 2000, following 54 years of marriage.
Mr. Cargill retired as chief of detectives from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. Following his retirement, he worked as a purchasing director for the University of Tennessee Medical School in Knoxville. Mr. Cargill served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He continued to have a love of the water and boating and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was also an expert water skier.
Mr. Cargill loved to garden and had a green thumb with flowers and vegetables, which he freely shared with his neighbors. He grew up in the Christian Church and joined the Presbyterian Church as an adult, having attended the Advent Presbyterian Church in Cordova, TN prior to moving to Knoxville. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and his great-grandson.
Mr. Cargill departed this life on August 3, 2013 in Candler, North Carolina at the age of 88 Years, 7 Months, 25 Days. He is survived by his loving companion of the last several years, Debra Hensley; a daughter, Suzanne Cargill Tinsley and husband William Dale Tinsley, Jr.; a son, Ronald Keith Cargill; four grandchildren: Cara Lee Hollingsworth, Gabriel Gavin Gagliardi and wife Tiffany Sanders Gagliardi, Mark Christian Gagliardi, and Gina Suzanne Gagliardi; a great-grandchild, Roman Cash Gagliardi, and many extended family and friends.
