Wasel Lamar Guinn age 89 passed away Tuesday April 21, 2015 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born October 11, 1925 in Chester County the son of the late C. D. Guinn, Sr. and Clela Gillon Guinn. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1943 and entered the U.S. Navy during WWII serving in the Atlantic on the USS Jansen DE396 searching for enemy subs. After service he returned to Henderson and married Ella Louise Cloud on February 1, 1947. He attended Union University and West Tennessee Business College. He owned Guinn’s Taxi Service and bought and sold cars. Wasel and his brother Junior went into business together in 1953 as Guinn Bros used cars and, in 1965 became the Chrylser Dodge & Plymouth dealership in Henderson until 1998. Mr. Guinn remained a part of Guinn Used Cars Inc. in Henderson and Memphis until his death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson and the VFW.
Mr. Guinn is survived by two sons, David Guinn and wife Darlene of Henderson and Steve Guinn and wife Janice of Henderson; two grandchildren, Brent Lamar Guinn and wife Christa of Marietta, GA and Amy Carol Guinn Woods and husband Andy of Monroe, NC; five great grandchildren, Grant Kenneth Guinn, Garrett William Guinn, Madelyn Guinn Woods, Ella Ruth Woods and Andrew Latham Woods and one brother, C.D. Guinn, Jr. and wife Lerlene of Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Louise Cloud Guinn in 2007 and a brother, Orville Wayne Guinn and a sister-in-law, Marie Guinn.
