Wayne Harris Brandon,

LT.COL. WAYNE HARRIS BRANDON, USMC

On July 3, 2018 Lt. Col. Wayne Harris Brandon, USMC went to be with Jesus.

Wayne was born on October 31, 1942 the son of the late Robert Wesley and Frances Harris Brandon.

On May 18, 1999, he was united in marriage to Kathy Wilkerson, who survives.

Lt. Col. Wayne Harris Brandon retired from the United States Marines. He received numerous medals while serving his country. Wayne received the Pistol Expert Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, Purple Heart Medal, Silver Star Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Navy Commendation Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon. He served several tours of duty, traveled and lived in 62 different countries. Wayne served a total of 22 years for the United States Marines.

He lived for 24 years in Martin, Tennessee where he was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He later moved to Wayne County in 1985, where he was the Director and Warden of the Tennessee Department of Corrections. He also served as Mayor of Clifton, Tennessee and was a City Commissioner of Clifton. Wayne was a member of Clifton United Methodist Church in Clifton, Tennessee.

In his spare time he enjoyed working on his lawn, which he kept immaculate. Wayne could also be found working in his garage, where he had several antique cars that he worked on himself. Wayne loved his dog and multiple cats.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kathy Brandon of Clifton, Tennessee; his children, Kelly Parks and her husband Darrin of Union City, Tennessee, Kirk Harris Brandon and his wife Vanessa of New Boston, Michigan, Rhonda Smith and her husband Chris of Savannah, Tennessee, Lori Mills and her husband Chad of Ponotoc, Mississippi, Robert Caperton and his wife Mary of California, Maryland and Shawn Caperton and his wife Jamie of Collinwood, Tennessee.

14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren

Wayne is also survived by multiple friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pamela Tarver Brandon and one brother, Robert Wesley Brandon.
