Wayne D. Ganus

Wayne D. Ganus, Sr. (1SG U. S. Army Retired) was born October 9, 1942 in Crump, TN the son of the late Stanford Warren and Lillie Mae Hutchens Ganus. Mr. Ganus departed this life on August 9, 2014 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 10 Months.

He was united in marriage to Janice Durham on May 24, 1964.

Mr. Ganus was a Retired First Sergeant of the United States Army. Including his National Guard service, he gave a total of 33 years of honorably service to his country. Over 27 of those years was active service with the remainder being in reserve component service. His overseas service was in Korea. He was the recipient of numerous decorations, medals, badges, commendations, and ribbons, among which were the Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; Good Conduct Medal 2nd Award; Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal with Service Star; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3; Tennessee National Guard Commendation Ribbon; Tennessee national Guard Service Ribbon with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and Veteran's Star; Tennessee National Guard Volunteer Ribbon; Tennessee National Guard Volunteer Recruiting Unit Citation; Expert Qualification Badge-M16; and Army National Guard Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Badge-Advanced.

Wayne was a member of the First Baptist Church Adamsville, TN. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his wife Janice Ganus of Adamsville, TN; two sons, Dewyatt Ganus and wife Kim of Adamsville, TN, Eric Ganus and wife Laura of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Nick Ganus, Ethan Ganus, Nathan Ganus, Khloe Ganus, Jacob Ganus; a sister, Vertie Durbin of Michie, TN; a brother, Warren Ganus of Olive Branch, MS and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ganus was preceded in death by four sisters, Nona Gray, Mable Freshoure, Jewel Moore, Nancy Lambert Cornelius; a brother, David Ganus.
