William Bruce Blount of Savannah, Tennessee, 78, died Friday, August 29, 2014, at Hardin Medical Center.
He was born in Savannah, Tennessee, November 28, 1935.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jones Blount and Beulah Harrison Blount and brother, Clyde Blount.
He is survived by two brothers, Paul Blount (Rosemary) and Dean Blount, both of Savannah. A sister, Virginia Ann McFall (Eugene) of Corinth, Mississippi and his loving children, Kim Patterson (Jim) of Savannah, Tennessee, Sherri Blount of Diamondhead, Mississippi and Paige Blount of Austin, Texas. He was affectionately known as "Pop" to his five grandchildren, Jessica Mitchell (Dr. Gregory), Riley Patterson, Alicia Patterson, Brittney Rhoden (Ryan), and John David Smelser and four great-grandchildren, Mari Anne Evans, Adalyn Mitchell, Logan Mitchell and Deacon Rhoden. He also leaves a special friend, Sarah Yarber of Corinth, Mississippi.
Bruce graduated from Savannah High School and served as Sgt. in the U.S. Army in 1958-1960. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He retired from the Paper Mill in 1990. He was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family, as well as helping others.
