William G. "Buster" McRae, Jr., age 92, of Lexington, departed this life Monday, December 11, 2017 at Briarwood Nursing Home in Lexington.
The widower of Jettie Mae Shields McRae, who died in 1989 after 29 years of marriage, he was retired as a pipefitter, having worked in the City of Jackson Water Department and for Garrett Plumbing. He was born April 24, 1925 in Jackson, son of the late William G. McRae, Sr. and Ruby Elizabeth Long McRae and lived in Medina and Trezevant prior to moving to Lexington in 2007. He served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict and was a Baptist in belief.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Armstrong of Luray and Debra Jines of Spring City, TN; a son, David McRae of Evensville, TN; a sister, Myra Collins of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren with 'one on the way'; and two great-great-grandchildren with 'one on the way'. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, two brothers and one sister.
