Mrs. Janie Mae Porter Sherrill of Humbolt, TN, formerly of Collinwood, TN, departed this life on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Jackson-Madison County General Hosptial in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 72 Years, 9 Months, 19 Days. She was born September 30, 1939 in Lexington, Al, the daughter of the late Clarence Milton and Clara Odell Pitts Porter.

She was united in marriage to Billy Gene Sherrill on November 12, 1955 and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2007.

Mrs. Sherrill was a homemaker and a member of the New Life Baptist in Collinwood, Tennessee.

Survivors, sons, Billy Sherrill and wife, Rhonda of Morris Chapel, TN, Jimmy Sherrill and wife, Shirley of Collinwood, TN, Jerry Sherrill and wife, Jennifer of Westpoint, TN, and Andrew Sherrill and wife, Kristy of Collinwood, TN; daughters, Clara Smith and husband, David of Jackson, TN, Margaret Skaggs of Collinwood, TN, Linda Harville and husband, Anthony of Humbolt, TN, Rebecca Morris and husband, Junior of Collinwood, TN, and Elizabeth Beale and husband, Jacob of Westpoint, TN; grandchildren, Nancy Stults, Amanda Hunsucker, Jessica Skaggs, Michael Harville, Michelle Brooks, Billy Randall Sherrill, Paul Smoke, James Sherrill, Leslie Sherrill, Sonya Clayton, Scotty Morris, Kevin Morris, Kristy Morris, Marcus Sherrill, Nicholas Sherrill, Kaity Sherrill, Isabella Sherrill, Levi Beal, Heath Smith, and Van Smith; great -grandchildren; Ashley Dunn, Brady, Emma, Seth, Caleb and Brandon Crews, Lexie and Lillie Hunsucker, Exavier and Gracie Jane Skaggs, Georgia, Brooklyn, and Cheyenne Brooks, Jason, Denver, Joseph, and Brian Morris, A.J. and C. J. Clayton, Holland Smoke, Layla Henry, Zack and Cory Wells, Haleigh, Riley, and Sara Beth Smith, and Hannah Everly; brothers, Milton Porter and wife, Angie of Scottsboro, AL, James Marty Porter and wife, Nancy of Collinwood, TN; and very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara Sherrill and son-in-law, Roger Skaggs.

Services will be Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Andrew Sherrill and Clara Sherrill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family. Pallbearers will Billy Sherrill, Jimmy Sherrill, Jerry Sherrill, James Sherrill, Randall Sherrill, and Michael Harville. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas and Marcus Sherrill.
