I knew Tom from Santa Maria and his activities on AvSig, the Aviation Special Interest Group. He quickly became a friend. We sort of lost touch after he moved, but I kept track of him through his website. He was a fine gentleman in every way the words imply. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his wife and family.

Thank you everyone for the prayers, cards and supportive messages. Tom touched many lives during his life, and I was privileged to be his wife during 15 years. I can't believe he is gone. He was unable to speak during his last hours, but communicated his love by holding and squeezing my hand and smiling at me with that crooked grin he had. I will love him always.

Dawn, I wrote an earlier message here but meant to leave a note to you. Your father spoke of his daughter with great joy, pride, and love. You were mentioned in almost all of his messages to me. I wanted to let you know he was my best friend and the love of my life. My heart belonged to him from the first time I met him many years ago. He was an incredible person (the likes of which I will never meet again). He lived life and enjoyed it. His smile, the twinkle in his eyes, and his warmth will be with me always. Mainly I wanted to say that he often told me of how much you brightened his world.... and I wanted to let you know that I will always love him.

Dear Nina, I just heard about the passing of your husband Tom and feel very sad. I don't know what words to offer you and your family but just know that I am thinking of you at this time of sorrow. Although I have been gone from the conure list for a long time I still go to my photos and think of everyone. Tom must have been a wonderful man for you to have married him. I am so sorry you are going through this right now.

I share your pain from the loss of Tom. I've thought for two days to come up with the right words to say, but I can only say may God be with you and comfort you. I hated so much I was not able to get away from work to come to his funeral, but it just was not possible. God bless you and I will keep you in my prayers.

Tom has been a friend and colleague for nearly 23 years. He was an extraordinary man, a remarkable combination of intelligence, intensity, generosity and loyalty. Tom loved live and lived it with great gusto. I came to love him and his wonderful wife Nina. Tom touched many lives and will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched. He left us far too soon. I miss him more than I can express, and I will think of him often and with great fondness for the rest of my years.

I knew Tom for a little over 30 years. He was a very kind and gentle man who was very dear to me. His eyes would light up whenever he talked about his show cars (especially when he was working on them), about his aviation trips, and about his children. He was my best friend and meant so much more than that to me. He was loved and he will be missed beyond words. He left this world way to young but he will never be forgotten.

Nina: I met Tom shortly after you moved to Savannah/ He was out driving his "Old Chevy" late one afternoon and when he came by my house he noticed my radio tower and stopped and introduced himself. We had a very good visit that day and discovered we had more in common than just ham radio. We are about the same age and both served our country in the Vietnam era. Since then I have talked with Tom many times although I have never met you. I too will miss him greatly but by his testimony I know he is with his Heavenly Father now. I live one street over from you and if you ever need anything, please, please let meknow. May God bless and comfort you during this time. Gerald, N4GLS

I know Nina from our Yahoo Group. Hopefully, Tom knew me because her laughter, to the point of tears, rang throughout the house when we exchanged emails. I love Nina, and because of this, I love her bird flock and her best friend: Tom. Your rather sudden departure from her life, and indirectly ours, leaves us broken-hearted and feeling helpless. Please watch over her and help her to carry this burden. That’s what best friends are for. Don, Cindy, Paris and Valencia Baran
