Imogene Smith Hosea

September 7, 1927 — April 19, 2017

IMOGENE SMITH HOSEA, daughter of the late Hal and Minnie Irvin Smith was born September 7, 1927 in Hardin County, Tennessee. Mrs. Hosea, after a lengthy illness, went to be with her Lord on April 19, 2017. She was united in marriage to Luther Fay Hosea on November 20, 1943 in Corinth, Mississippi. She along with her late husband, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1978, diligently served the Lord throughout their lifetime. Mrs. Hosea was a woman who held to biblical truths that she not only taught, but lived out as well. She served as a church pianist and taught Sunday school for sixty years. In addition she nurtured young Christians and was an intercessor, praying in faith for the needs of others. Mrs. Hosea was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse who worked in the office of the late Dr. Tom Roe for 25 years. She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the D.A.V.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Barbara McCoy (Alvin), her two grandchildren, Richard McCoy and Valerie McCoy-Owen, to whom she became Nanaw to at the age of 38. They became the light of her life. Her five great grandchildren, whom she adored called her Nanny, are Tanner Trace Owen of Nashville, Nicholas Owen of Chapmansboro, Sarah, William and Maria McCoy along with their mother Michaelynn from Stevensville, Michigan. She is survived by her brother Ray C. Smith of Savannah and her sister Marie Bramhall of Memphis, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by brothers, R.D. Smith, Jim Alford Smith and sister, Robbie Jerrolds, who all affectionately called her “Bug” and one great grandchild, Elizabeth McCoy Bardin.
