Alice Faye Suddreth

November 20, 1924 — August 27, 2017

Alice Faye Mainers Suddreth was born November 20, 1924, in the Deanburg Community of Chester County, Tennessee. The daughter of the late Hugh Ellis Mainers and the late Tressie Thomas Mainers. She is a member of the founding family of the Pleasant Springs United Methodist Church, founded in the 1800’s, where she has been a member for over 80 years.
She attended Deanburg Elementary School and Henderson High School. She was a true WWII Rosie the Riveter hero working in 1942 at the Wolf Creek Ordnance Plant in Milan, Tennessee, and 1944 in the Willow Run Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she riveted the doors of the B-24 Bombers and inspected the gasoline tanks for sabotage. She is a lifetime member of The Rosie The Riveter Association.
Alice Faye married David Cooper Suddreth on June 15, 1946, and they made their home in North Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1960 they moved from North Little Rock to Texas where she would spend her next 57 years. Mrs. Suddreth’s pride and joy were her two beloved Yorkshire Terriers, Christmas Angel (Angel) & St. Nicholas (Nicky). Ganny loved, cared and made a wonderful home for them for their short 16 years on earth. She also cherished time spent with her family especially enjoying holiday and birthday gatherings and her long telephone conversations with her sisters Shirley & Louise and her brother Cliff in Tennessee. She enjoyed gardening well into her 90’s, reading, her three children and always enjoyed her friendships with her great neighbors, Dave & Liz Fobert & Steve & Janie Lockhart. She was the family’s world reporter, always keeping up to date on the world news, local news and local events and in turn keeping all the family informed. She was known for her contagious sense of humor and kept everyone around her laughing and on their toes. She went to bed every evening watching The Golden Girls and, therefore, always had a smile on her face when she closed her eyes. She lived her life with basic principles of faith in God, love for her family and a strong sense of patriotism. She was with candidate Trump from day one and never wavered her support. She was the very first to cast her absentee vote for our now President Trump. As she arrived at her last stop in Texas at the Austin airport, before flying to Tennessee for her final resting place, President Trump in Air Force One taxied in front of her and they both lifted off from Texas.
Mrs. Suddreth passed peacefully from this life on Sunday morning, August 27, 2017, at her home in Copperas Cove, Texas, surrounded by her family. She was 92 years of age, less than three months from her 93rd birthday. Mrs. Suddreth loved her community of Copperas Cove which had been her home for more than 20 years.
She is survived by her three children, Danny Hugh Suddreth and wife Donna of Copperas Cove, Texas, Lou Ann Suddreth of Dallas, Texas, and fiancé David Thompson of Austin, Texas, Mary Ellen Suddreth Kyle and husband Tory Syvrud of Dallas, Texas.

One of nine children, Mrs. Suddreth is survived by her two beautiful sisters and two brothers, Clifton Edward Mainers of Deanburg, Tennessee, Mary Louise McKinnie of Lakeland, Tennessee, Shirley Jo Mainers of Deanburg, Tennessee, Hugh Allen Mainers of Deanburg, Tennessee, and five nieces all of Tennessee. She is also survived by her cousins Phylis Wujs and Tommy Forrester of Hazen, Arkansas, and Kaye Park of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Suddreth was preceded in death by her husband, David Cooper Suddreth, one brother, Travis Ralph Mainers, three sisters, Norma Joyce Mainers, Peggy Jean Mainers and Betty Jane Mainers Hicks and her two little Yorkshire Terriers Nicky & Angel who were waiting for her at the gate to heaven.
