Alvin "Butch" Ward, 72, of Middleton, passed away Friday morning at his home.
The husband of Linda J. Maxey Ward, who survives, he was a self-employed mechanic and had also previously worked with FedEx for 12 years and was a welder. He was born Saturday, August 14, 1948,in Hardeman County, son of the late Leslie Alvin Ward and Doris Evelyn Irwin Ward and lived in Oregon until the age of 16, in Memphis for 29 years, and moved here in 2004. He served in the US Army and was an avid reader, enjoyed watching westerns and wrestling, horses and riding his tractor. He was best known to 'lovingly aggravate' those he truly cared about. Mr. Ward was a Baptist in faith.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on September 6,1976, survivors include three daughters, Lisa Alfrey (John) of Cordova, Michelle Ward (David) and Danielle Ward, all of Memphis; four sisters, Evelyn Gravitt of Sugar Valley, GA, Ann Bell of Olive Branch, MS, Rachel Bainer of Springfield, Oregon and Susie Harvell of Millington; 7 grandchildren, Melissa and Michaela Huddleston, Quentin, Wesley, Nick and Chloe Morris and Gina Alfrey; and one great grandchild, Addison Callaway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Ward and 3 brothers, Skip Ward, Ray and David Leslie.
