Ann Averitt Guinn

ANN AVERITT GUINN
Henderson, TN: Ann Ray Averitt Guinn, age 73, passed Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

She was born in Martin, TN, and grew up in Henderson, TN. She was the daughter of the late Lattie Burton and Robbie Ray Averitt. She graduated as valedictorian from Chester County High School in 1958, where she served as editor of the high school yearbook, and Freed-Hardeman College in 1960, where she was editor of the Freed-Hardeman yearbook. She also attended the University of Tennessee at Martin. She married Dan McCain Guinn in 1960, and they made their home in Henderson, where they owned and operated Guinn’s Food Market. Dan died in 1989.

She had been a member of the Pentagon Club and the Bon Tres Club in Henderson.

She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ where she taught cradle roll, and more recently attended Crieve Hall Church of Christ in Nashville. She was also a member of the Freed-Hardeman Associates, and was an editor of the Associate’s cookbook.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Guinn, of Henderson and Franklin; a son Dan Guinn, IV of Henderson, and two grandchildren, Dan M. Guinn, V and Ryan A. Guinn, both of Buena Vista, TN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ben Flatt and Charlie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Henderson City Cemetery.
