Anna Lou Berry Smith

Mrs. Smith, 81, of Middleton, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at her home.

Born September 2, 1938, to Samuel Thomas and Fleetie Ann Taylor Berry in Adamsville, TN, she was a graduate of Collierville High School. She lived in Maryland for some time then moved to Hardeman County after marrying Charles T. Smith in 1985.

Mrs. Smith loved to garden and cook. A homemaker, she and her late husband were world travelers due to his business of helicopter parts sales. She was known as 'Ma' to everyone and never met a stranger. She attended New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include 2 sons, Christopher Todd Cleaves (Ann Jackson) of Middleton, and Timothy Alan Cleaves (Debbie) of Bartlett; three brothers, George Adam Berry (Shirley Lee) of Finger, O. Arthur Berry (Carol) of Kent, WA, and Troy L. Berry (Betty) of Adamsville; a sister, Virgie Sue Berry Sneed (Aldon) of Moscow and two grandchildren, Blade Cooper, and Lucas Kaffka.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother, Marvin L. Berry and a sister, Bertha B. Holden.

The family requests in lieu of flowers to make donations to the American Cancer Society.

While visiting or attending services for Mrs. Smith, please consider the following guidelines:

* Maintain 6 feet between yourself and the next closest person;
* Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;
* Wash your hands often;
* Avoid touching your face; and
* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
