Mrs. McAlpin passed away Friday evening, April 17, 2020, at her home near Middleton.
She was a life-long resident of Hardeman County and the daughter of the late William Carl Marshall, Sr. and Cratie Lou Maxwell Marshall. She was the widow of Mr. Claud Everett McAlpin who passed Monday, April 11, 1960. Additionally, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Robinson and Dottie Marshall; brother, William Carl Marshall, Jr. and an infant brother; and a great-grandchild, Amber Lynn Keller.
A long-time member of New Bethany Church of Christ, her family described Mrs. McAlpin as a Godly woman who loved her Lord. She served as a psychiatric technician at WMHI for over 25 years and, in her leisure time, she enjoyed flowers, gardening and caring for animals. She was affectionately known to many, especially her grandchildren, as "Big Granny".
She leaves three sons, Larry McAlpin (Mary) of Stantonville, TN, Harry Lyn McAlpin (Marcella) of Bolivar and Billy McAlpin (Mary) of Middleton; one brother, David Marshall (Becky) of Bartlett; six grandchildren, Chris McAlpin, Larry McAlpin, Jr. (Melanie), Eric McAlpin (Lisa), Robert McAlpin (Tabitha), Amy Darling (Roger) and Melissa Kerr; 17 great-grandchildren, Brianna, Zachary, Layla, Gage, Phillip Michael, Katelyn, Dalton, Camden, Raelyn, Aiden, Abigail, Aston, Andrew, Aaron, Nealyn, Hannah and Kyle; and two great-great-grandchildren, Allison and Avery.
