Bailey Ferge, Sr., 83, of Somerville, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.
He was born Wednesday, September 29, 1937 in Fayette County, son of the late Edwin Augusta Ferge and Julie Ethel Pittman Ferge and lived his whole life within 3 miles of where he was born. He married Hazel White on april 20, 1957 and together they raised 3 children in a happy home. He was retired as a supervisor with TDOT, working 37 years, also while being a farmer, raising cattle, of which he was extremely proud. After his retirement, he continued to farm and worked as a logger and broke and trained horses and mules. He was described by his family as loved by all and was an inspiration to all he met. He loved being with his family and friends, was extremely proud of his grandchildren, enjoyed being outdoors and working with his livestock, family gatherings and was generally known as a happy and jolly guy. Mr. Ferge was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel White Ferge of Somerville; two daughters, Sheila Ferge Cox (Bill) of Brownsville and Lisa Wilson (Barney) of Somerville; a son, Bailey Ferge, Jr. (Barbara) of Whiteville; a sister, Betty Rodgers of Whiteville; 2 grandchildren, Kelsey Wilson of Somerville and Jim Bob Ferge (Jessica) of Whiteville; and a great grandson, Jared Ferge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Velma Wilson, Geneva Cratton, Eva Thompson and Sarah Wise; and three brothers, Lester Boyd "Jack" Ferge, James "Cobb" Ferge and Donald Ferge. * Refrain from hugs and handshakes;
* When you sneeze or cough, use your elbow to cover your nose and mouth;

* Minimize time spent in places where people gather.
