Mrs. Pope departed this life on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Christian Care Center in Bolivar.
A native of Michigan City, MS, she was the daughter of the late Reed Kennedy Thomas and Bamma Pearl Mathis Thomas. After her marriage to James Duane Pope, in 1949, she moved to Bolton, TN where she lived the remainder of her life. A former principal of Bolton High School, Mr. Pope passed away on December 8, 2017.
Mrs. Pope had worked as a secretary for the Millington Naval Base and retired from Bolton High School where she was a long-time secretary. She was a past member of Brunswick Baptist Church and, at the time of her death, was a member of Bolton United Methodist Church. She was an active member serving in several women's organizations and singing in the choir. In her leisure time, she enjoyed going fishing.
She leaves a half-sister, Marjorie Leigh Thomas Burrow of Michigan City, MS; a half-brother, Kenneth Thomas of Kansas City, KS; and several relatives, including Sandra Baronowski, Sonia Jay, Bob Haynes, Woody Thomas, Phillip Thomas, Wesley Weeks, Tuesday Monts, Warren Weeks, Sanford Young, Lance Young, Pat Pope, Trey Pope, Heather Mercer, Beth Hanna, Becky Dowen, Allen Richardson, Carmen Richardson, Barbara Ann Richardson, Renee Campbell, and Tara Grant.
