Barney Griggs

Barney Griggs of Waynesboro, TN was born July 11, 1937 in Waynesboro, TN, the son of the late Clinton and Madgie Neal Cannon Griggs. He was united in marriage to Linda Melson on November 21, 1969. Mr. Griggs was a retired press operator at Murray Ohio Manufacturing and was a member of the Ray's Chapel Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee.

He departed this life Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home at the age of 80 Years, 5 Months, 20 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Melson Griggs of Waynesboro, TN; their son and his wife, Byron and Amber Griggs and their children, Kelli and Katelyn of Waynesboro, TN; their daughter and her husband, Brandi and Rob Thomas and their children, Colby and Arley of Lawrenceburg, TN; his brothers, Kenneth Griggs and wife, Judy of Lexington, TN and Walter Griggs of Waynesboro, TN; his sister, Josephine Griggs Howell of Waynesboro, TN and his sister-in-law, Judy Griggs of Waynesboro, TN and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by their daughter, Misha Lee Griggs; his brothers, David Griggs and Clinton Griggs, Jr. and his wife, Joye and his brother-in-law, Lloyd Howell.

Services will be Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Laverne Griggs and John E. Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Griggs Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be Monday, January 1, 2018 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Banks, John Inman, Jeff Howell, Eric Banks, Noel Gallaher and Royce Pulley. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold McClain and Eddie Lopp.
